01

Every night, I would list everything I had to do the next day.

02

Then, on a second sheet, I placed them on a timeline, one by one.

It worked. But it was slow.

Tomorrow
  • Calculus problem set
  • Read ch. 4 at the library
  • Fix the login bug
  • Gym, 30 min
  • Call Mom
  • Laundry

03

I looked for an app. Every one had me filling in forms, over and over.

One task, one form. And tomorrow had six.

04

But most people's days are fairly repetitive.

Same classes, same gym, same laundry. And every single one, I typed in again.

05

One night in my school library, it hit me.

Paper only does two things: list, and place.

So why not turn that one move into a simple app?

06

Turn tasks into reusable cards, then put them on the timeline.

Drag them over, and your day is planned.

07

On paper, crossed out means gone. A card can be used again and again.

Use the same card twice in one day, and again tomorrow.

08

Later, I looked it up. It turned out this was already a known method.

It's called timeboxing.

09

I teamed up with a few classmates. Two months later, we had the first version of E7 TimeBox.

It was rough: no sync, a clunky UI, English and Chinese only. Good enough for us, but I wanted to share it with more people, so we kept improving it.

Five more months of polish. In October, it went live.

10

And so, that sheet of paper finally became a screen.

We're still working to bring this experience, or a better one, to more devices.
